Thus, the production of affects in order to achieve convictions was often given priority over the wellbeing of the victim. As noted, such views assume that there is a right way to react emotionally to rape and that such reactions can be performed within the setting of the courtroom. These perspectives conflict with the mistaken assumption directions already discussed, one of which states that complainants will display a range of emotions, including non-emotion, during the trial process (Judicial College 2019).
